Sea-themed decks have a special place in my heart. I’m currently obsessed with the Tempest Tarot Deck by Maisy Bristol and I’m quite excited to see The Nereid Oracle Deck by Stevyn Llewellyn on Kickstarter. The sea is such a mystical world to explore and it’s ripe for plunking.

Drawing inspiration from the benevolent sea nymphs of Greek mythology, this oracle deck unfolds with 97 lovingly illustrated cards and a 57-page guidebook. It offers counsel, warning, and solace, as if each card is a wave, carrying the voice of the deep.

Llewellyn says the Nereids in myth were not passive beauties but protectors, guides for sailors, and sometimes voices of caution. That dual role, guardian and warning, shapes every card.
Created with watercolor, these hand-drawn illustrations are visually stunning. The deck draws from soft cobalt tones, seafoam greens, pearly whites. Some cards shimmer with bioluminescence, others carry the muted hush of underwater twilight. The artistry feels organic, not merely oceanic. Each Nereid seems to breathe, her form shaped by myth, but her expressions alive, human, vulnerable.
There’s also strength in numbers here. 97 cards is more than a typical oracle deck. That size means more nuance, more overlap, more room for subtle messages. It’s not just about pulling one card and moving on. It invites immersion.
Stevyn Llewellyn is an artist deeply invested in myth, archetype, and symbolism. Her work often explores feminine forms, mythological themes, and emotional landscapes. The Nereid Oracle feels like a continuation of that body of work, but sharper: more myth, more boundary, more vulnerability.
