The Fertile Void Tarot Deck and Illuminated Magazine

I don’t think I have ever seen a more beautiful tarot deck. Which might be an exaggeration, considering how many decks I’ve bought and how many decks I’ve featured here in Fortune Teller’s Gazette. But wow, The Fertile Void Tarot is in a league of its own.

Created by Devany Amber Wolfe, The Fertile Void Tarot feel alive, charged, sometimes disorienting. There are no human figures here, apart from a single anatomy illustration. Instead, the deck is built from flora, fauna, ancient symbols, landscapes, and the cosmos. It is collage, but not the restrained kind. It is layered, textured, almost excessive in the best way, and I love how the cards are edged in a hypnotic rainbow foil.

And then there is the magazine.

Instead of the usual small guidebook tucked tightly into a corner, Wolfe has created a full-sized, 300-page illuminated magazine. It makes the whole project feel immersive. You are not just pulling cards and scanning meanings, you are entering a visual and conceptual world that has been given room to breathe.

If you’ve followed Wolfe’s work before, you’ll recognise her interest in tarot as a tool for honest self-examination, and it shows in this deck.

I know I say this often, because I genuinely get excited about decks. But this one feels different, it feels like someone committed to a vision and followed it all the way through.
