“I always felt the pull to protect what can’t protect itself as easily, and always felt more connection with animal-life.”

Jack’s commitment to animal welfare is not a marketing footnote. It comes from somewhere personal, shaped by childhood, temperament, and a long-standing affinity for non-human stories.

After funding, part of his profits support conservation and rescue work, including Animal Refuge Kansai in Japan, where he adopted his own cat, Galahad.

Meet Jack.
Nonsense writer. Illustrator. Playing card designer. Ceramic cup maker. England to Japan by way of folklore, kendo, and ballroom dancing.

His latest project, Arcane Wildlife Tarot, grows out of a long-standing interest in how images behave on a surface and what happens when play and divination share the same deck.

“I see each medium as a new canvas to explore and new window to tell my stories. Here I wanted to take my experience with playing cards and explore a new history, the evolution of tarot and merger of art in play and culture.”

One thing that stands out about Jack’s practice is that he does not treat tarot as a fixed identity. It sits alongside books, playing cards, ceramics. Each project becomes a different surface for the same curiosity.

There is something quietly powerful about watching an artist trust their own instincts. No angel, no devil, just a smaller version of yourself insisting on the thing that needs to be made. David McKinsey’s charcoal work for The Liminal Deck sits exactly there, between doubt and knowing, hesitation and action. It is less about answers and more about listening closely to what keeps calling.

Chatting with David McKinsey felt like stepping into one of the spaces his deck explores. Soft edges, glowing thresholds, and a sense that something meaningful is unfolding just out of frame.

“I stopped focusing on looking like all the other homework that was turned in.” That line stayed with me. The Liminal Deck grew from permission, to work in the grey, to let things settle however they needed to.

David McKinsey’s process is a reminder that tarot does not have to be loud or decorative to be deeply felt. Sometimes it just needs space.

Alien Tarot was never meant to exist, until it had to.

Constance drew the cards while undergoing stage four breast cancer, each illustration becoming a lifeline. What emerged is a deck for weirdos, witches, and survivors, inviting us to pause, reflect, and grow.

78 cards. 78 aliens. A journey born from chemo sessions, grief, and resilience.

Alien Tarot by A Wandering Soul is strange, glowing, and deeply human - a deck that embraces mystery instead of promising easy answers.
